Nemetschek Vectorworks is a system for the automation of works in the field of architectural and construction design, focused on users working in the field of landscape design, as well as those involved in the design of interiors, buildings and premises.
Integration with the Parasolid geometric kernel and bi-directional associativity with innovative technologies in the field of 3D modeling allowed 2D to improve, and 3D became the best solution in its category of architectural 3D modeling programs. Building on the new Parasolid 3D engine for working with 3D models, Nemetschek Vectorworks 2020 products provide bi-directional associativity between all model elements. All changes made are automatically reflected by the software throughout the project as a whole, this feature is the cornerstone of modern information modeling for the construction industry and other industries.
The dependence on Siemens is not limited to the Parasolid core alone. With the release of the Vectorworks 2021 product series, Nemetschek has expanded its integration with Siemens PLM Software's Engineering Software Division by integrating their D-Cubed 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager into its products.
A quick summary of the main improvements of the Nemetschek Vectorworks 2021 package:
  • improved 2D graphics and redesigned work surfaces;
  • implemented associative hatching in drawings and models;
  • the ability to import and export files in IFC, DWG and SKP formats has been expanded;
  • added tools for "sculpting" walls and modeling stairs, for working with small architectural forms for designing lawns, parks and parking lots;
  • added tools for planning public events and tools for modeling the operation of projection and lighting equipment (for theaters for ICOs and entertainment complexes);
  • the updated rendering engine now supports placing images on objects using the decal method (in fact, you paste a flat virtual sheet with an image on complex model shapes) and advanced texture binding methods.
